ONE ROOM CHALLENGE LINKING PARTICIPANT

Hello and Welcome to the One Room Challenge for Linking Participants. Thank you so much to Linda from Calling it Home for creating this fun, fabulous yet crazy task that we are to complete in just 6 short weeks.
I have been an avid follower of the ORC and have been astounded by some of the transformations. I cannot wait to see the other spaces!
Even though we are currently in transition and are in a rental home, I decided to throw myself into trying to make my space more functional and exciting. But because it is a rental I'm not willing to put a lot of money into the house.

Ok so here goes.......  my "office" is currently a staging area (who am I kidding) dump for what furniture I am currently working on or in the process of getting ready to sell. For those of you that don't know I sell vintage and antique furniture, lighting, etc..... I have a desk, but will source other items mainly through my daily search for cool furniture that keeps my business going. I also love a good DIY, so this will done ON THE CHEAP.

The room I chose is to say the least, challenging. It is 12 x 12 and only has 2 (yes I said 2) walls. And both of those walls have doorways. Oh yeah, the room is elevated by 6" from the rest of the house. So essentially I am "on display".

I have a bookcase/secretary ( henceforth called the Monster) that CANNOT be moved to another location. It is the only space in the house that it will currently fit.  So that knocks out 1 wall. Now there is only ONE usable wall in the room.

My goal over the next 6 weeks is to:
- clear out room
- Paint ( with permission from landlord)
- hide hideous floor tile with interesting carpet or alternative flooring
- replace chandelier
- make bookcase functional for work
- source art/ mirrors etc....
- find console/ lamps/ style the single wall

Here is the room in its current state, please don't judge too harshly...

Only available wall

Modern Take on an Ancient Form

Continuing my obsession with all things Greek and Roman, I gathered some items in current production today

Lucite Klismos from Dragonette

The one that keeps haunting my dreams... 1st Dibs
The coolest from Jonathan Adler

Ancient Greek and Roman Previous Life?

Do you find yourself drawn to one particular era without knowing why?? I realize that I have a STRONG
affinity for Ancient Greek and Roman design. When I look back I see that this obsession has been ingrained for quite some time (My prom dress was an off the shoulder slim fitting toga looking number, I was definitely marching to the beat of my own drum!) How about you? Are you drawn to Chinoiserie or any particular style for some inexplicable reason

Examples of this fascination are found in my home:
Gathered Obelisks from around the house

Designers Alphabetically

Every week I will profile a designer whose work I am drawn to.

A: JACQUES ADNET

French born Jacques Adnet was an icon of French Modern Design. His many luxurious yet simple designs are still stunning in today's interiors. The Adnet mirror designed in 1946 was influenced by the work he was doing for Hermes. It can be purchased today through Design Within Reach.
